Saturday Night, June 28th, 2003

They started the night off with all the NCCC Car Show Winners on stage, followed by the FCOA Contest Winners - both warm up acts for what followed.

When we bought our tickets for the Nashville event, they said they were going to have a huge Saturday Night concert to end the Celebration, but they didn't announce who was going to play at the concert until early June.

The "little ol' band from Texas" is bringing their stage show to Tennessee to help closeout the Corvette 50th Anniversary Celebration with a bang during the Finalé Concert on Saturday, June 28.

As Corvette celebrates its 50th year, ZZ TOP is celebrating its 34th year in existence, and lays claim to the longest running major rock band with original personnel intact As it was in the beginning, the ZZ TOP of 2003 boasts its original personnel lineup—Billy F. Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.

With the forthcoming release of their latest RCA album, Mescalero, the band is breaking new ground in terms of both their sonic approach and the material they’ve recorded. ZZ TOP is the same, but always changing. From the early hits such as "La Grange" and "Tush" and the '80s classics including "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man" to the 16 new hits on Mescalero, ZZ TOP has always cooked with the same rock recipe: Billy's blues-based guitar virtuosity, Dusty's driving bass and Frank's fierce drumming. And during the Corvette 50th Anniversary Celebration, you'll get a live musical taste test.

Corvette's legendary status will unite with ZZ TOP's iconic rock, boogie and blues to provide one heck of a sendoff for the Corvette crowd.

The Coliseum was packed on the riverbank side - they had the stage setup on the 50-yard line

And of COURSE, ZZ-Top had special edition Guitars for the event - the Gibson Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Corvette Guitar!

The Gibson Custom Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Corvette guitar is featured in the window display, complementing the Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary edition convertible. The sleek guitar has an exclusive 50th Anniversary badge, the same one that appears on the front fenders of the 50th Anniversary Edition coupe and convertible models.

The carved, contoured mahogany top features the air intake design ("scoop") synonymous with the Corvette since its inception, uniquely incorporated as a strings-through-body tailpiece. Other features include a one-piece mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with the official Corvette script in mother of pearl, and nickel hardware.

It comes in 50th Anniversary Red and will be produced by Gibson's Custom, Art & Historic division in a limited run of 50 instruments.
