On Friday night, when
the Corvette 50th Parade ended, you didn't have to go far for the
entertainment! After the line of great Corvettes and marching Elvis'
pass, Rockin' on the Riverfront continued to rev up the Downtown District.
The Temptations performed on the famous floating stage located at
Riverfront Park on the corner of 1st and Broadway.

Rock 'n' Roll Hall of
Fame members The Temptations, with original member Ali Woodson and his
Emporers of Soul, performs the hits "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg"
and "Beauty's Only Skin Deep."
For more than forty
years, The Temptations have prospered propelling the popular Motown sound
into smash hits. An original component of the Motown Machine, The Temps
began recording in the 60's and became a house-hold name with the hit "The
Way You Do the Things You Do." Many more hits followed like "My Girl", "Ain't
Too Proud to Beg", "Beauty's Only Skin Deep" and "Get Ready."
In addition to their
lyrical and poetic sound, The Temps became known for their "flair, flash
and class," and The Temptation Walk became a signature of American style.
From their tangerine tuxedoes to their smooth pop sounds, The Temptations
were and are still the quintessential Motown group.
They advised folks to
bring lawn chairs and blankets for the grass seating which was first come,
first served. The music began at 6:00 pm and lasted until 10:00 p.m.
Rockin' on the Riverfront was open to the general public, not just to 50th
Anniversary ticket holders. |
