After we quickly toured the Hotel, we had planned our trip to a couple of Antebellum Plantations before heading to the NCM in Bowling Green.

Our First stop was the Belle Meade Plantation

The Queen of the Tennesssee Plantations

Restored to its 1853 elegance, Belle Meade is known as the "Queen of Tennessee Plantations." Once world-renowned as a thoroughbred stud farm and nursery in the 19th century, the plantation was the home of the only American-bred winner of the English Derby. The sprawling grounds feature the mansion and nine other historic buildings including an 1832 slave cabin and the colossal 1890 Carriage House containing an antique carriage collection.

On Site Buildings:

1790s Dunham Station Log Cabin

1853 Antebellum Mansion

1890s Carriage House and stables

Seven other historic outbuildings

Antique carriage collection

Restaurant and Museum Shop

We took the Northern Loop around Nashville rather than thru town.

You can't see much of this house from the road, until you are on the grounds.

The original road (behind Vette) up to the house has been blocked off, and a new road around to the right is what is used for Visitors

Once your on the grounds, you can peek thru the trees to see the main house

You pass by a couple of the smaller houses, including the original house if you come in the South entrance.

Various pictures around the main house

The Barn You can see the smokehouse and the end of the main house here

A nice collection of carriages and coaches

Other buildings and houses on the grounds.

This is the "crypt" which doesn't have remains left in it.
